My journey began back in February when I went to the Dr for a check up and discovered I weighed 244 pounds! I was done with being fat! I have always been on the chunkier side of things. I remember being in jr high and weighing 145. I was still a size 7 but my mom took me to weight watchers with her. That still sticks out in my mind as a huge turning point in my self perception. Yeah I could have lost maybe 5 or 10 lbs but it effected me.
I started my journey this year to have a 6 month physician supervised diet. Then I had a psych eval on July 19th. I saw a dietitian and all that was pending was the psych report. It took a month and lots of harassing to get it faxed to the insurance. The papers were sent to my case manager the last week of August and I had an approval within a week.
My Lapband surgery was set for September 28th. I started my low fat/no fat diet on the 14th. I had pre-op testing done at the hospital on the 17th including a barium swallow test (I will live a happy life if I never have to do that one again). I then had my pre-op at the dr on the Wednesday before my Tuesday surgery.
I was excited and yet nervous at the same time, I had never had surgery before. Only time in my adult life to be in the hospital was to have my 2 beautiful babies.
Time was closing in on my surgery. The night before I called my husband from work and told him the one thing that I wanted that was not on my diet really was IHOP pancakes. They were 3 gm fat each. So I splurged and went to IHOP as my last meal. Crazy request but I do love me some pancakes from there. I will miss their all you can eat pancakes :(
