So I had my mom take my 2 year old for the week and my 10 year old was at school. My husband took me to the hospital at 9 a.m. for a 10:30 surgery. They got us right in and everything was good. My husband was making me laugh and I was ok, until they put the IV in. This is when it started to hit me. I started to cry. The nurse thought it was something she had done. I am just a a cry baby is all.
The dr came in and talked to us, then the anesthesiologist came in. He gave me something to start with and then my husband kissed me and they wheeled me to the operating room. Upon arrival the music was blaring and I made a comment about this was what we were going to be listening to. Then a lady Gaga song came on and the anesthesiologist made a comment about it being the first time to hear her in an operating room. I proceeded to tell them about what my husband had just told me about my son figuring out why Dicks Sporting goods is called Dicks....cuz a bunch of dicks shop there with cockie attitudes. Oh my! I am not sure if it all came out or how it did but now I am so embarrassed!!!
I remember waking up in recovery and moaning ALOT! My chest hurt so bad! I remember the recovery nurse not being able to get orders from the doctor. I remember her being on hold forever with the nurses upstairs to give report to. Then I remember going to my room and my husband being in there extremely upset with the nurses because of the amount of time it took to get me into my room. It was 3:00 p.m. !!!! Crazy.
I rested and then my Dad called he was on his way to visit. He was stopping at McDonald's did I want anything? Seriously? Then he brought me some oreos....Then it hit him why I was in the hospital!!! Anyone else and I might have been upset, but my Dad, it made me laugh. My husband brought my son up to see me later that night. He was told I had a problem with my stomach and the dr's had to go in and fix it and I couldn't eat the things I could before.
I was glad I stayed in the hospital overnight. The breakthrough morphine was nice and being able to have that help with the first night was great! I would recommend it to anyone.
I went home the day after surgery at 1:00 p.m.
